  1. Remember Airshows are targeted at the general public, not so much a bunch of grumpy old men:-)
  2. Like all these weaselly idea's they flounder round like a fish out of water till its dead! At least this goose is entertaining😁
  3. When I jumped into the pool of the RA world having to do 5 hrs I just grit my teeth & did it, its a rort!
  4. Oh the corrupt Govt & grubby media will milk this for all it's worth to keep the fear & hysteria alive!
  5. Personally I believe 600kg is fine, the whole concept of AUF/RA was for basic cheaper flying. Where do you draw the line? I operate several RA machines and am happy within the limitations due being simple and cheap, if I need more I drag out my VH time machine and play within those rules:-)
  6. SOE is a very dangerous tool for the grubby lunatics in charge! We will need to change our national anthem soon, remove the 'one & free' bit, we are now a very divided nation fighting each other no longer 'free' but living under draconian tyranny heading for social destruction!
  7. What's a "whiz wheel"?😉
  8. Not gunna get into a debate on this but yr comment ' you should not be looking inside in a 3 axis when turning" is pure nonsense! With over 42 years driving planes from basic stuff to heavy metal my eyes are on swivels inside & out during any maneuver performed visually & manually flown!
  9. Flyboy that's very true, we do live in a litigious world these days sadly:-( Many years ago I came across a VeeDub that had just rolled on a country road, I pulled up the same times as another guy coming the other way, we dragged her out well away from the car after crawling in & turning the ignition key off first due the strong smell of petrol. She was hysterical & yelled at us for not wanting to crawl back in to get here bag!
  10. I think most people know we are talking about conventional A/C here when it comes to coordinated turns!! Your 'point' was more antagonistic than anything else!
  11. Very tragic:-( If only he had the piece of mind to pull the power off or reduce it, hope they get to the bottom of this awful event:-( I'm not surprised few raced to the accident scene initially, shock, confusion & not wanting to get involved in something you have no idea how to behave, humans aren't all built the same!
  12. This circus guessing game will continue for a very long time! The lunatics in charge are on a mission, to divide & conquer, you see it in every social media platform & forums etc! Them & us, class division is rife! Friend against friend, neighbor against neighbor, work colleague against work colleague, it's ugly & tragic-( The grubby media love it, the division sells newspapers!
  13. Bosi whilst that's true re AoA for stall 90% of AC don't have a stall indicator hence we have speedo's to use as a base in which to fly to. Fortunately most of the basic flying machines out there are fairly forgiving of poor quality handling skills otherwise there would be a zillion more headstones reading stall/spin!
  14. Interesting article joining the volumes of others that cover the same subject/s. It all boils down to training at the end of the day, from the classroom to the handling of the flying machine, it's always been too easy to get a plane ticket & retain it, there in lies the core issue! Eg: I went up flying with a friend of our Aeroclub who hadn't flown in many months mainly due the Covid lockdown bullshit just as a safety pilot & instead of just converting Avgas to straight & level noise I mentioned try a few stalls & steep-ish slow flight, he mentioned he had not done a stall since his flight test many years ago or ever been shown slow flight turns! Again there in lies the core issue, training or lack of it!
  15. Plenty of home built A/C on the VH reg not certified under the banner called 'experimental'
  16. Kinda set themselves up to fail! Swiss cheese you could say! Surprised old grumpy Dan put himself in that position!
  17. Anyone floating around in here using a Plasma 11 elect ignition on a Lyc?
  18. whilst its not doubt an interesting machine and each to their own but it sure is ugly:-)
  19. Knowing the grubby head lunatics reputation 28 days would be conservative! It's not so much the duration but the threat that there will be more for as long as the foreseeable future!
  20. Avdata, now there's a joke in it's own right! They send me invoices for fees/services that I never used all the time! A guy I know who spent 2 years rebuilding his plane had numerous invoices sent to him! I'll go out of my way if I can to avoid Ldg fees, sometimes a principle costs!
  21. John I think you'll find its obvious that the guy got disorientated & over stressed the airframe. Ive got a few hundred hrs in RV's & it takes very little to get to VNE and then you are in test pilot territory! Sadly it will happen again, that's the ongoing tragedy:-(
  22. Flash point of Avtur/kero in it's basic form is around 38degC. During fire fighting drills we had Avtur in a shallow drum with some rags, on a cold day you needed a blow torch to get it to go whoomph! Avgas/petrol however is a diff story. I treat all flammable liquids with the same safety level.
  23. Avtur or kero (much the same thing) is pretty benign in most circumstances and far safer to handle & transport than Avgas/petrol. Ive been in & around Avtur for over 40 years inc handling it at the bulk storage level to too many hours to remember at the usage level, I consider it a very safe flammable liquid with having some basic knowledge of it's dangers.
  24. You have to be in visible moisture in temps 10deg C & below to get icing. It's a very nasty business getting airframe icing had it more times than I care to remember!
  25. just about any medium material could be used to transfer petrol, imagine the amount of petrol that gets moved around in backyard operations? Must be astronomical! It all boils down to longevity. Ive used plastic tubing for many years to move petrol, it's for sale as such at many places!
