1. Did Caboolture to Roma last year, we stopped for a break at Chinchilla, good sealed runway, aeroclub facilitates were available, however you will need to BYO coffee & snacks.
2. Can never have too much insurance, only works out a few hundred dollars extra a year or less than a dollar a day.
3. Recently renewed my insurance for my Foxbat A22LS with PSB, my policy is for full flight risk value of a/c $110,000 excess $5,000 public liability of $2M, cost $2,200.
4. CAAP92-1 says it all, basically you can land anywhere you think it’s safe. On a side note I follow Trent Palmer on YouTube, he’s into bush flying & a memeber of the flying cowboys, I think in this nanny state we live in if you tried half of what he does the FUN POLICE have a fit, especially if any of you guys with tail wheels water ski on any of our water ways. Fly safe & keep the shinny side up.
5. Hence the advantage of only flying RAAus max 600kg, once you reach 75 you have to see the doctor to maintain your drivers license, and for goodness sake don’t open up a can of worms & mention anything about flying, it’s beyond their pay grade & they don’t have a need to know, keep it simple, anyway that’s my plan.
6. I recently ordered & received the “Big Srew tie down” the 18 inch screws & tie down straps & attachments look strong enough to use on a Dash 8, haven’t used it yet, will post update when back in Bne.
7. Sign into RAAus web site, select documents & forms tab, then sport Pilot & download pdf.
8. All things come to those who wait, just checked RAAus web site & finally the July edition available for download.
9. Ok so obviously I’ve missed something, is the digital version dead?
10. So it’s the 28JUL18, any updates of when or were it’s available.
11. Give Bill & Heather a call at Caboolture Recreational Aviation, an excellent school with a good variety of LSA available for training/hire.
12. Mmmmm, think I’ll treat Warwick as a high threat no go Airport.
13. These days with ground radar it’s a bit easier compared to the 1960’s. We only use CAT 3B, with CAT 3C it’s basically 0/0.
14. The landing & rollout no dramas, it’s getting off the r/w & taxiing that’s more challenging & gets the heart beat racing.
15. Thanks, I will only be planning tech stops airfields with self service avgas, keep it simple.
16. The reason I asked was I have a lack of faith in someone that charges $20 callout fee for doing their job during business hours.
17. Thanks, I know what the ERS says, never been the most up to date document around, it’s just that someone mentioned on Ozrunways a self serve bowser with CC option, as I was planning to be there on a weekend I’d like another definite yes before I decide wether not not to bypass YGDI, not keen on forking out $100 for a callout fee.
18. Just in the planning stage for a flying trip in September, lots of conflicting information about the availablity of avgas at Goondiwindi, can anyone confirm if the bowser accepts credit card, thanks.
19. Always thought it’s a very sexy aircraft, enjoying watching the build progress.
20. I think his career & credibility are in tact, it’s called flexibility, I’m sure there’s no QRH procedure that deals with a fire plus crew member seat u/s.
21. This defines what a tight knit military crew is like, RESPECT
22. Just had a look at the RAAus web site, at present there are 3,344 a/c on the register, a few more old C150’s maintained by LAME’s will not affect the vast majority of our day to day operation.
23. Personally if RAAus could get a VFR lane on the outer edge of the airspace at Gold Coast & Coffs to avoid tiger country I’d be a happy camper, this would negate any interest for me to gain a CTA rating & class 2 medical, thus avoiding any contact with CASA.
24. The definition is equipped to land on water, so floats fitted, not an expert on floats but most appear to have wheels fitted for land ops, so in that case you’d be able to operate at 650 kg,
