    AIP SUP H132/18 Issued today 27 NOV 2018 has reversed the wrong direction levels put in place by CASA in direct contravention of their own regulations. Effective immediately. Beware though, you will still face oncoming traffic at the wrong levels (as per current VTC) who have not or will never see this AIP SUP. Perhaps "Request (or Require) traffic advisory" to Melbin Senna whenever transiting those routes, and if you don't get it, you are entitled to lodge a safety report, which will trace directly back to the originators of this massive rooster-up.

    Don't be fooled into thinking the senators know nothing about aviation. I get the impression they already know the answer to most questions they ask. And that's why most of them, particularly the Chair, are so "JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION, YES or NO" with some things. They can spot diversion and confusion tactics a mile away. They don't have time or tolerance for that. They have many people and organisations appearing before them, they can smell BS a mile away and want to get to the bottom of a matter without all the song and dance thrown at them. Self-declaring medical arrangements work for the mission in question - private flights with one passenger. PPL 30+ years, I have an under 600kg VH plane though, so I'm an interested party to all this.

    Two identical aircraft overhead, one piloted by a CASA approved organisation's pilot (RAAus pilot) who self-declares fitness to fly, and the other has to jump through CASA medical hoops and in reality, also self-declares fitness to fly, or not, regardless of any certificate held, on each and every day they fly. Just like the RAAus pilot does successfully. AOPA position is the RAAus self-declaring medical status system works, CASA has approved it all, so why are they denying PPL holders of same aircraft up to 600kg? Certainly had all the senators shaking their heads in disbelief. They all seem to be be regular guys, who can clearly smell BS at 60 paces. RAAus legal advisor fella needs to, oh, I dunno, read the RAAus OPS Manual before his next appearance. My goodness. RAAus aircraft are all simple aircraft with fixed pitch and fixed gear??? What The.

    Assuming this is about RAAus aircraft, (since RAAus was mentioned) why not read the first two paras in section 12.8 of the RAAus Tech Manual instead of all this guesswork and mis-information? I'm not in RAAus, and I found it in about one minute of looking online. It's been there, unchanged, for the last three years. When it doubt about something, just check the facts out for yourself, it won't take long. Never blindly rely on what "someone" told you - too many people do this as their first and only option, why?? Check the facts, in many cases you might be pleasantly surprised. Questions/topics of similar nature would best be posed not as "what is the answer I seek?" but "where do I find the answer I seek?" And there I end the lesson, not by giving you the answer you seek (after all, I'm just another "someone"), but guiding you to where it is where you can see it for yourself, and no guesswork is required. Good hunting.

    $500.00 was the cost, paid in Nov 2017. It's easy to look up in the public domain. One would imagine you could just as easily cancel such a trademark at any time with the dept of trademarks. In fact, yep, you sure can, and it's free.

    SAAA doesn't have such an engine course, and have no qualifications to do so, but some members in Sydney did sorta run some sort of engine maintenance workshop a while back. That's probably what you heard about. A friend had Steve Hobby do some prop refurb work not so long ago, he was most happy to be involved.

    The business is still there at MOOrabbin, but moved around the corner many many years ago Propbits I think AVIALL does tempest filters. Also, Greg Bell at GEE BEEs at Essendon can get things from some places that don't care to deal with us plebs individually. Tempest stuff included, I'm fairly sure. Funny story - a mate needed a new mega $$$$ engine, the dealer (wherever) wouldn't deal with him because he didn't have an account, a business, or some such twaddle. So he had his son's workshop interstate order it, saved a bunch of $, then took his trailer in... "I'm here to pick up that engine you wouldn't sell me last month." This sort of stuff still goes on.
