  1. Some people would do anything to avoid a landing fee. Looks like he got that one free of charge........
  2. Looks like a lot of the plans for the first and second design can be found, rather unusable, just historically saved.
  3. Welding can indeed be done by the amateur builder. Many to most people who have built an aircraft have very likely not undertaken anything like it before, and they generally turn out the best work. I built a wooden aircraft, I did need help with some metalwork machining and welding - those were beyond my capability and equipment. Wood, fiberglass, fabric and paint, instruments and wiring, I did the lot. I was gong to jump in earlier. You can amateur-build Serial No. 2 off the plans you have, and you can change anything you need to along the way.
  4. I recently had a T-Rex try sell me a crate of AK47s. I think he was a small arms dealer........
  5. D-EZB. de Easy Bee, a derivative of de not-so-easy-bee.
  6. So 'who' is going to be issuing fines? Your average Joe Plonker at the airport won't be. I have been trying to find out in the regs 'who' can even ask to see your asic. Have not really found it yet. i.e. - what gives any Joe Plonker worker at your airport the right to ask you for anything? "I'm the airport safety officer on a quad bike" Show us your badge then Kojak.
  7. Perhaps consider one of the headlight polish creams like Meguiar's PLASTX polish. I use this on headlights, it works great for me. I'd use it on my canopy glass if I needed to.
  8. First manned flight 17 DEC 1903. 18 DEC 1903 newly formed FAA prosecutes Wright Brothers for flying without a licence.
  9. Has Skip contact RAAus for help from his organisation? Surely the OPS manager or team would be able to give some good advice.
  10. Well I'd like to congratulate Skip for deciding to find a test pilot. The reasons don't matter really, it's great thing to decide to get someone in who might be in a better position for success. Bravo I say. (and yes, I did test fly my own tailwheel plane years ago.)
  11. Looks like CASA needs to bring in some sweeping reforms, this looks like a brush with death.
  12. Melb Airport. Years ago, five minutes after they widened the entire 34/16 to 60m to cater for the A380, the 380 got certified to operate of 45m wide runways! DOH!!!

Back in September 2022, SAAA referred the following guy in USA over to RAAus as we virtually never see sail covered wings etc, they are more common in the RAAus fleet. If you google his name you'll find a green aircraft on youtube. [email protected] Malcolm Brubaker Friday, 2nd September 2022 7:57 pm I sew sails in the USA. I receive several requests a month for sails from the AU. I am considering coming there to teach a few people to sew sails. I am looking for contacts to advertise this venture. Can you help me? I hope to here from you next week
  14. SAAA doesn't have rules about weighing aircraft, BlueA, CASA does. We just follow them. CAO 100.7. Myth bust 1: SAAA is not a self administering organisation that runs VH Experimental - CASA runs Experimental, we follow CASA regs, and we have a few approvals for a few things for our members. Really, same as RAAus has things for their members. And other orgs for their members.
  15. SAAA doesn't actually have W&Bal people (who will come weigh your aircraft), but some of our members are personally a CASA appointed Weight Control Officer - WCO - nothing directly to do with SAAA. Ceri (it's Welsh) - from Sydney area I think - she advertises in Aviation Trader, as do a few others around OZ. CASA will not release a list of all the WCO's that THEY appoint. There are more around than you might think, but finding them is difficult, they don't advertise, probably because it's something they do for their employer and it's not an activity they need to run around getting involved in for the general public. They might weigh an odd aircraft that is on their home airfield. As an SAAA member, I don't know what the RAAus rules are about who can do what with weighing. But I know what SAAA members cannot do. SAAA members only weigh their own aircraft, not anyone else's. Many SAAA members are also RAAus members who fly both flavors aircraft. I and many others try to help any RAAus members who might ask us something, and I find usually I have to just refer them back to their organisation RAAus because their question is outside our scope. We get calls from people who confuse SAAA with RAAus (or SAFA - ex HGFA) . Quite common, usually from people who have bought some plane or are considering buying some plane. We just point them in the right direction for their query and they are happy for the help.
  16. PB0029N is a Jabiru number only. Good advice, there will be numbers etched on the existing bearing, it will be something commonly available NSK or SKF. Bearing shops like CBC Bearings will only have good quality stock, wherever it is made. https://conbear.com.au/bearings/
  17. Thank you, but alas, there is no cloud for me. I'm doing all this on wifi if that makes a difference.
  18. Yep - that's where I'm getting this 73% from. It sure looks like it's just stalled. Garfly - I'll give that a whirl - thanks.
  19. OZrunways novice here - I hate technology. Trying to download latest maps in my phone, download goes to 73% with 73% of a red ring around it, and just stops. I have plenty of mb gb gigawatts storage available. Download to my tablet worked fine. Database shows 6 OCT but I can't tell if I have it all, or 73% of it. If I have it all, what's this Downloads 73% bizzo? Any ideas? - thanks.
  20. Hey, at least you got a message back! Can't say I ever did. Problem belongem dem fella. I know someone who just passed PPL and got awarded a CPL. Cool! That'll only take about a year to resolve probably, and a stat dec and six witnesses to say they did not do a CPL test.
  21. Perhaps clarify for the readers, you're only talking about a different tyre, nothing else?
