  1. I've been using either BP 98 or shell , no problems with the fuel or the tanks, but it's made a hell ova mess of my lexan windows. What resin are jabiru using?
  2. You know , apart from all the crap with RAAus ,one thing I'm really certain of,,,,,,,this forum has become one of the most miserable places on the Internet , there must be a dozen threads about this same subject ,,,,,,
  3. To add to mriya floods said any time the battery is further than the firewall then you need pretty thick leads to compensate which ,when I bought my engine it came with the savannah loom , the savannahs don't have hence I'm looking at about a grand to do the sprag clutch. I'll also replace the flywheel with a new one ,it has different trigger points for the CDI's ,that will give easier starting .
  4. Did the same ,and got the same answer, they did say the odyssey would work but the Panasonic was better value, dint entirely fix the problem as it originated in a savvanah which have battery problems form new ( just going on what I was told ) and has damaged the sprag clutch in my 912! Straight from Bert floods, crap electrical system equals spending money fixing stuff!
  5. There is a massive amount of stuff on this guy, some think he was gods gift to aviation, others say he was a dangerous cowboy, I have no opinion either way other than from what I've read he should've been grounded years before the fatal crash. He had plenty of skill for sure but with that should come the responsibility to be an example to lesser pilots . A case in point ,I was with a mate at Tyabb airshow last time it was on and as we walked by Matt Hall's stand he stopped my mate and asked his opinion on the routine Matt had just done, I was amazed at two things, Matt halls humility and who is this fella I'm hanging around with that Matt hall asks to critique his performance. 6. Sad story! I read that the first spin recoveries were discovered after the pilot had bailed out, change of CG , control surfaces trailing in the slipstream I reckon a lot of the time the aircraft flies inspite of us , first flights in something like an RV or going from a 172 into a Tecnam and I know I was all over the place ,let go of the stick and it suddenly became a nice stable ride! Matty
  7. If I ever find myself near Staffordshire with a bottle of whiskey in hand ,I'm coming to your place to share it,,,,,I reckon you'd be full of stories ;-)
  8. Or RANDOM BREAST TESTING exercised on pretty young women at any time without need to be in a relationship with the woman,,,,,,,mostly followed by a hard whack in the face or an ugly altercation with an angry boyfriend
  9. I will seek some professional advice on this ,but not from an insurance company for obvious reasons, at face value though ,and I believe aviation is probably the last place where personal responsibility is the bottom line. A pedestrian who goes through the syllabus and is transformed into an aviator is given a legal title PILOT IN COMMAND ,any litigation has to get past this title ,the lawyers can argue to and fro but if a person is deemed to be competent then all the legal ramifications fall squarely on the shoulders of the PIC whether dead or alive. I'm no lawyer and have only a 'bloke on the street' understanding ,but as a pilot it has been drummed into me that when I strap into a plane I am responsible for that flight,CASA ,RAAus ,air services all make me responsible for what happens in that plane and so does the legal profession going by the lack of success in sueing other people (airfield owners, refuellers, CFI's) this is not counting the sting accident as I think there was some different dynamics there. And further I would be very sad to see some lawyer find a sneaky assed way of getting past the PIC status .
  10. Has the dangerous sport you've mention grown as rapidly as RAAus , cause if its in decline then it may appear your doing a similar job as CASA, if no one ( or at least small numbers ) is flying ,or doing what your governing, then it's getting safer and safer, and if we can stop everyone from doing anything ,well damn ,us humans might just live forever !
  11. They're making patches,,,it'll still be easy to spot at the airport,,,just look for the really really stoned guy covered in band aids !
  12. The guy who flew the unreg Gazzelle into cairns with no licence ,clearance or radio calls might have got a holiday I think, can't remember the facts though
  13. Hey Maj, had a tour through Judy Pays hangar on Sunday, she's got a Fiesler Storch being restored to flying status, 275 HP inverted V8 54 foot wingspan 250 ft take off, not sure how much flap the original called for but it'll be great to see it flying in a few years time.
  14. I remember a helicopter getting knocked off from bankstown a few years back, got flown to taree and abandoned, I recall it was IFR in a jetranger, and I don't think anyone got caught for it!
  15. I guess not everyone takes photos of their plane regularly,,,,I just can't help myself, my iPad is like a new baby album!
  16. Maybe by sight , I was flying Craig's Eurofox a lot ,got my own plane now but still drop in to say g'day regularly, Cheers Matty
  17. Was expecting a utube "fail" with a stack or bits falling off it, seemed to fly like a helicopter, if he goes more than a metre off the deck I would suggest a seatbelt of some sort, turbulence could see the pilot and his machine part company!
  18. With the SIDS on the ways for cessnas he may have to advertise its weight in kilograms yet, I'd consider it if it was cheaper though, they're a sweet looking plane with a taildragger conversion ,like a baby 180.
  19. I have a leather type helmet for open cockpit flying , more for protection against the elements and to keep my headset from moving , before starting the test flying on my aircraft I considered using a proper helmet , I bought one only to realise it needed a specific headset combo to fit onto the sides, in the end I just went nude headed as so far so good.
  20. Really cool vid, I never paid much attention to birds till I started flying, they are amazing animals!
  21. Mine are totally stuffed now, I'm going to get some acrylic and redo them, and put holes in the new ones, You got a sale on your fox yet? Plans for a new aircraft?
