  1. Guessing the 262 was late 1942 maybe early 1943 ? Lots of allied hardware flying around then .......... and even in 1944 numerically at a disadvantage A 262 even though technologically advanced (at speed) was like a cow sourrounded by blow flies (with all respect for the many that suffered by the 262) Could adolf saved the Reich ? ...... lets hear it kaz
  2. Just completed 3 regional flights in NZ - ATR's turboprop - all Air NZ ................... big planes no obvious airport security for local flights (no metal detector gateways etc - non existent, no body or bag searches). ................ saw no evidence of aircraft fuselages protruding from any buildings
  3. Apnatha & fh I think you are saying the same ........ just a bit the difference Freeze on controls .? ..... i froze twice ..... best ? ............ with an ag pilot flying in nz .... i was pic ? ......... big wind over an island say 3000 ft ..... smooth as till....... tomohawk started to roll ............. agy thought i might help pic in control .............. i knew agy ..... an trusted any input .................. learnt things that day ! 5. long sleeved shirt and trousers Capillatus ? ............ to ward off effects of sunburn seasons greeting for your tribe in the north
  6. in the interests of aviation chatter ..................... on a previous thread we have 7! aircraft in the circuit - one had 30! with left, centre and right runways - a twin engine using the centre strip Most understand the theory of wake turbulence, but, if at an airstrip - who of us manages it ? - is staying away from the flight profile / vortex ................ enough ? There are lots of examples where wake turbulence can ruin your day Any anecdotes / reminders that some would like to share ?
  7. could also be ................ that truck driver wanted some really good dash cam footage (sarcasm) or; both the car and the truck driver were physically there, but, mentally - were way, way, away somewhere else
  8. .. was n't Mein Kampf such a written strategy ......................... that proved a bit deficient ?
  9. Spitfire pilot probably lives on rural land A family with say 4 kids could ride all day on motorbikes ............ cause the noise of the devil and any neighbour would just have to grin and bear it (me thinks trail bike riding is a rural activity) To then somehow suggest that an aeroplane is worse than that .......... is subjective
  10. thanks Alf I've always thought there should be a topic 'where are they ?' sort of like a family album - some are deceased - some decide not to post any more, etc .............. a suggestion only
  11. ................. maybe that's the answer - always check prop fine, gear down I confess in my narrow experience on types and flight time - I never do - cause planes I fly don't have that stuff
  12. i notice there are no seatbelts ................. or any form of restraint for the double bed
  13. that would not be a nice paperwork thing to discover the thing that interests me is that you have say an empty 280 kg plane that is legal in Europe @ 450 kilos - 170 kilo useful load in USA or Oz its say 600 kilos - same plane ? - 320 kilo useful load ................. but essentially the same plane ? ........... something doesn't seem right
  14. there's plenty of google material where the Euro designers claim that the 450 / 472 threshold limits what they can achieve I imagine say Tecnam and your Legend craft fall into this category Csot ? - they are designed for either market and flown at 450 in Europe and say 600 in USA / Oz ............. is that a fair summary ?
  15. my understanding is Europe ultralights are designed to 450 kg but they are capable of 600 kgs to cater for USA and Oz legislation ? ................. something along those lines
  16. VL3 - World's fastest UL aircraft 2 seat side by side - 165 kts ! max cruise - rotax 912 or 914 - 450 kilos ! max all up weight
  17. VL3 - World's fastest UL aircraft 2 seat side by side - 165 kts ! max cruise - rotax 912 or 914 - 450 kilos ! max all up weight
  18. ................ no reply - I'll post it if I get one
  19. .......... no worries 172 pilot .... thats what the insurance is for ......... so go flying again, when you can As to the damage ... its not a marginal choice re repair so it does make the insurance assessment easier (i presume)
  20. .......... seriously Looks like hoss cartwrights hat ...... to me
  21. thanks for that P Perry never knew about the corrupt EU (googable) ........... where there's money there's always someone trying to skim the top
  22. ................. grade of pilot ? ......... or grade of memory ?
  23. People in glass houses should not throw stones ? What are the situations where gear up happens ? In a 210 shirley the undercarriage buffet would prompt ?...........?.... or could noise cancel headseats diminish that sensory perseption
  24. I sent this Council an email to southern downs regional council re Warwick airstrip - why not I said [email protected] I find it disappointing that your Council has decided to charge landing fees at airstrips – assuming next you will be installing toll gates to local parks, lakes and river banks The aviation economy is at best on shaky ground and needs to be protected and valued by local authorities – in time of need your airstrips will prove useful and a saviour to your Shire Those pilots that use your airstrips are in part the grass roots of aviation - you also receive economic benefit from airstrip assets Please show economic logic and encourage aviation – not discourage it
  25. Sometimes ? ......... a Council will charge an annual fee for local aircraft who's home is the local strip Ask Council - they might see this as fairer and more manageable - accounting concept is ....... locals pay bread and butter - visitors get fleeced
