  1. I don't think anyone has made an accurate gauge, fuel flow meter measuring what has been used versus known quantity via accurate dip-stick or visually full tanks of a known capacity would be the best way of determining fuel remaining. cars, caravans and trucks are not reliable in tank gauges.
  2. Might just need the cylinder bolts tightening up a bit? Looks like it is all still there.
  3. Same here Bex, best of luck with the op and recovery, want to see your project at the end when you’re better. cheers clintonb
  4. Fire works and a helicopter ride, what could be more fun.?
  5. Just wondering if it is too cold to fly in the UK, missing looking at the interesting models Dominicm posts videos of.
  6. Got to be a few mines that need filling somewhere, just down the road is the hunter valley
  7. Fresh meat and Vegetables work well, funny that when there was less take away options on every corner and people ate at home we all seemed slimmer and more active. I’m only a seventies vintage and I do not recall seeing so many large people as now (including in the mirror)
  8. Our local storage dam had the wall raised a few years ago by 2 metres. It took away the road on the far side, increased the storage by 50%. But they did not think to dig out the millions of tonnes of silt from the shallow end whilst the dam was close to empty for 4 or 5 years. It appeared to be several metres deep even in the river entry end (judging by the original landscape shape). The increase in depth would have to be a gain better than surface area.
  9. I found the Man Challenge works in changing your mind set on food and works for a small input of exercise with no machinery/equipment. i have only gained weight back due to laziness (not spending 1/2 hr walking and 10 mins exercising each day) which I i now have to work harder at.
  10. Why is no-one ever around to see that perfect landing. Had a short local flight over the local recreation dam this arvo, which finished with a straight in greaser. Made the hour or so to get out of the hanger worthwhile.
  11. They are usually Impressed with early morning, no bump flights to the coast, not the roller coaster ride coming home too late in the day over the range. ( my experience has found this out, very green coloured passengers upon return journeys)
  12. Diamonds :))))))))))))))))))))))) For the wife that is And for the value of the experience along the way.
  13. Looks like perfect weather there at the moment. We are enjoying some rain and storms lately. Just wish they would come after beeer o’clock and give us some flying weather.
  14. I took a pic of this aircraft at Coffs Harbour with rego METAL, looked it up and found it to be morrocan rego. Quite sleek up close, my son loved it as one of his computer games has it as an option to fly.
  15. no pointing behind- there goes a bad guy! whoops.
  16. i had never been of the highway to that area despite living on a few hours away. was impressed with how much is around to see and do. we had been to the drive in before and went again this time on Friday night. i will definitively find some time to drop into cessnock again after this.
  17. They announced today the fees were for lions club and local men’s shed. Excellent traffic management to get out after show.
  18. We pay that much each day we park at our local airport every day of the week. Is the money going to a cause or just council coffers. Donated to a good cause like drought aid or lions clubs etc is not a bad thing. Maybe the strawberry farmers to make up for the damage done by a small bunch of losers.
  19. Was at Sydney airport yesterday, I looked at the trays rather differently and noticed how filthy they were. Now I’m paranoid.
  20. There is a good letter to the editor of last issue of AOPA pilot magazine, from an operator of a private field in response to the previous article on avoiding charging airports. There are always costs in operating anything nowadays. A fair fee to everyone is far better than not having nowhere to land.
  21. I was keen to go to old bar, made contact with appropriate people-who were very friendly. They warned me about tall light poles at one end. When I got there I found strong cross winds, so I made Taree my stop instead. Am looking forward to going again but early in the morning.
  22. I recently recieved a bulliten about plastic windows in Caravans from one supplier. We were seeing an increase in warranty claims for crazing around the mounting and lock points. Turns out the solvents in a lot of cleaners are bad for plastics. Recommended using specialist cleaners like Vuplex or plain old warm water and mild dishwashing soap. I immediately took the windex out of my travel tool bag and swapped it to Vuplex and microfibre for the windshield.
