What do recreational flyers do?

Recommended Posts

I grew up on a cattle farm, so had the usual range of primary production related jobs while young.

I ended up working in the disability sector, working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities, both on the bottom level and in management. Most recently I managed a program providing support for people with neurological diseases such as MS. Currently I am a fulltime student, as I managed to get an undergrad psychology degree done in there somewhere too, and decided to take a year off to do some postgrad study, ending this year as a provisional psychologist.

For the last five years I have also ran my own business in the motorcycle industry as well (Starider Motorcycle Products) which helps in taking a year off from professional work.

And I'm also a muso, although not quite current. Brass mainly, played Euphonium in marching bands (including Cadets and Reserves) and also Trombone in Jazz and Big Bands......

Well, better start learning then. It does wonders for your cross-wind landing techniques, or so I'm told. keen.gif.9802fd8e381488e125cd8e26767cabb8.gif

Hi BP246niner,

I left for similar reasons albiet in 1993. I was working in sales in Corp & Govt at the time and wasn't happy about who was being promoted and who wasn't nor the organisations ability to deliver what it was spruiking. I was looking after the IT companies and was offered a job with one of them. Simpler life, more results and significantly more pay. No brainer really.

Cheers

Chris

I suspect we probably met at some time, I was often in Sydney and Melbourne on various projects - glad to see we both converged .002_wave.gif.62d5c7a07e46b2ae47f4cd2e61a0c301.gif

I grew up on a vineyard, growing and drying fruit. Went to the city for an education and ended up an electronics technician. Worked for a fire alarm company on the drawing board doing layouts, then for an R&D company specialising in micro-controller hardware and firmware design. Had my own business as a sideline for a while and had one patent to my name, but I'm no entrepreneur, - too conservative! I spent seven years working as a technical officer working out of Talbingo with the Snowy Mountains Hydro Authority, and have spent the last sixteen years (has it really been that long?) working for a well known Research Organisation at Parkes. Still a technician, but these days tend to be a bit of a generalist and seem to have become a manager!

Pity that by the time you have learnt a few important facts in life you are not in a position to implement any of them.

Redair IS a funny man. ( I know that).. I am not going to enter this disclosure thing, ( collective sigh of relief heard).. Things could have been worse for all of us, I dare say. Keep busy it stops you feeling sorry for yourself. Lots of people I know are developing depression symptoms. I'm serious.!!!! You feel like saying "snap out of it" (Which we all know doesn't work) but they really don't have a lot to look forward to that is anything like what their past had in it.. Keep in contact with your mates and keep active doing things. You need the human contact and something to do. Im convinced of it. Dogs love me these days so what am I doing right? Nev
