It's the last photo that did it! We can fry eggs on a car bonnet and your plane is sitting out the middle of nowhere by itself in a blizzard of white cold. I feel cold just looking at it.

Dropped into Mt Perry airfield for the first time today. Very scenic as you drop down through the mountains into the valley. The airfield is inside a horse racing track. Would make a nice club get together location.

Straddie Breakfast, another winning event today.

 

80 breakfasts were served at Dunwich this morning, nearly a record apparently. Winners are Grinners when the raffle was drawn. Over 40 aircraft flew into another great Flyin Breakie.

That first photo looks like it was taken at 30,000 feet above the ground, until you see the chain and windsock.

Notched up another Lesson on Friday in 7440, it was another hot day but, change of scenery this week, Pete and I headed over to Caboolture (YCAB) for some Circuits and Grass Landings practice, A great flight over and back, started off a bit sloppy, but the rudder work is getting better, more finessing needed still, which will come with practice, but the lesson was a hoot otherwise,

 

"Still walking away from each lesson with the biggest smile on my dial"

Thanks Jabiru7252, appreciate the feedback, currently using the Garmin Video Editing Software that came with the camera, will try your suggestion on my next one, am purchasing the aviation audio cable soon so then it's all about the flight, radio and all, less or no music and long clips between fade but hopefully not to long to bore anyone

Today was another beautiful CAVOK day in Victoria. I decided to take the Eurofox for a flight over Lake Eildon to take in the views. It doesn't get any better than this! (Bonus points for those with a keen eye that can read my rego).

Made the journey from Bundy to Monduran today, just a quick 22nm flight. The Monduran Aero Club hosted a lunch for members & visitors. A good turn out, about 10 visiting aircraft & plenty of locals. Not long after lunch there was a shower of rain come through, nothing like what they need though, the attached pic shows how dry it is around here.

Completed another Circuits Lesson on Friday, this time in 7600. Peter my regular Instructor is a way for a few weeks so also had a new Instructor, Mahl who is looking after me until Pete is back. I have to admit I was a bit nervous as Mahl is the Chief Flying Instructor and Owner and I have not flown with him before, but in no time he had me at ease and the lesson got underway with gusto

 

My flying can be classed as a little bit clunky, tense, and a little aggressive on the controls sometimes so Mahl set about instructing me with simple changes that would help and benefit me as whole, I have recorded 2 circuits, one with Mahl flying and one of me having a go using the tips he has demonstrated, I now have Cockpit Audio Recording setup on my Garmin VIRB, so this is a warts and all video of my flight, "the good and the bad"

 

More finessing needed still, which will come with practice, so more circuit work ahead, which I dont mind, the more the merrier, its all about making me a better pilot after all, thanks Mahl, back for some more training this friday with Mahl again, cant wait, "Still walking away with the biggest smile on my dial"

Took my nephew "Goose from Top Gun" for his first flight in a light aircraft from West Sale via the Gippsland Lakes to Lakes Entrance with a touch n go at Bairnsdale on the way up.

 

We then followed the highway back to Stratford at 700 ft bypassing the towns in the way on the return journey

 

From Stratford we tracked the rail trail all the way back to Toongabbie then climbed to 2500 ft and cut the corner of the hills to his home town of Yallourn North, with a doey around his home we then headed off to Newborough before making our way back to Latrobe Valley airport to drop him off to his parents

 

Overall it was a great flight with 2.7 hrs for the day and he loved it

 

Footnote: we didn't need to eject

Email photo to yourself which normally makes it smaller, save attachment to your pics, then attach that smaller file to your post. Should work, hope this helps.Rgds

This depends on your email server. I use Yahoo. I emailed myself a 4.53 mb photo, and the received photo was 4.53 mb. Sure, the preview image was smaller, but that would require using the snipping tool to copy and save it. There are a couple of simple methods using Windows tools.

 

1. Image resizer.

 

Using File Manager, display the directory containing the image. Right click on the image to display a dropdown menu. Click on Resize photos. A selection box opens, which allows you to choose what size you want the image resized to. If you want to keep the original image as well as the resized image, uncheck the Replace the originals box. Click Resize.

2. MS Paint

 

Open the image in MS Paint. Click on Resize and select Pixels. Enter required sizes. Click on OK. Save the file.

Returning from YORB last weekend

 

The small coastal settlement of Lake Tyers, located some 5 miles East of Lakes Entrance. The mouth of the freshwater lake is known to break through in flood conditions and usually provides safe boating/fishing . Easy access is available for surf-fishing on the Ninety Mile Beach also.

The tourist/retirement settlement of Paynesville, with Raymond Island in the foreground and the silt jetties of the Mitchell River at the top. Raymond Island is serviced by a 12 (or more) car ferry, seen crossing McMillan Straits (centre) and operated by hydraulicly driven chain gypsies. About $15 return/vehicle, but free to residents. No charge for pedestrians.

I went on a quick flight to fill the fuel tank, and clear the dust off the fuselage today, from YBCM to YCAB and back. The area is looking a little greener after the weather we have been having lately.

I've just done a BFR in a Piper Warrior. My plane is not set up for dual controls so it is easier to do a BFR in a hired plane.

 

I havn't flown a Piper for 50 years, so it was all new to me and also I havn't flown trycycle gear for two years and a T tail never.

 

It wasn't hard flying, just a bit heavy on the controls and everyrhing happens slower than in my RV or Corby Starlet.

 

The funniest thing was using a yoke instead of a stick. I found taxying at Bundy that i was steering with the yoke. well not steering as the feet were doing the work, but the hands were obviously following through. Stupid, but the instructor didn't comment until I pointed it out to him.

 

Nice to fly a different plane occasionally and it makes me so much happier to realise how much better my home built planes fly than the spam cans.
