Blackshape Prime on Sunrise

Angus Beef paid $10,000 for about three mentions on Burke's Backyard in prime time about twenty years ago. Does that give you any clues about how they could do it too. The content doesn't matter as long as the money is flowing. Remember John Laws, oh that's right he is still on, just no body listens to him any more!

Good point! Wouldn't it be great to see how much he paid the network to get that story on air? Then it's not really news is it! More a paid advert.

Cashed Up Bogan, Oscar. Perth was full of them during the mining boom.

When you look at what a Cirrus SR 22 costs and how often you need more than 2 seats maybe a 2 seater at about 30% the going price of a new Cirrus and far lower running costs isn't so silly. My only question is : does it have a decent size baggage compartment and loading.

RV's are good 2 seaters but you need a RPL or PPL. If we would have real medical reform (not the latest CASA bs) they are a good way to go although if I had to build a new aircraft I'd have a really good look at an IO360 powered BD4C and configure it as a 2 seater with large baggage compartment just the way we fly our BD4. You could leave provision for fitting the back seat later.

Is anyone still under the impression that Sunrise is a news program? It's purely paid advertisement and this would have been no different. If the other aircraft manufacturers want to get a spot on "prime" TV (I wouldn't call that c**p "prime" by any means), then they just have to front up the money too.

Sadly all boating, car and plane etc magazines have gone that way, paid for articles and because the sales of mags are so low nowadays they can't afford to tell the truth about what they are (allegedly) testing.

A modern 18 meter single seat sailplane without ANY form of engine will set you back the best part of A$150,000 just for the airframe. Add instruments A$10,000 to A$15,000, trailer A$15,000 to A$20,000, parachute A$3500, shipping from Germany or South Africa say $10,000 and GST on top of the lot and you are in the A$210,000 to A$220,000 region. Add another A$50,000 for a sustainer engine that might prevent outlandings but will not launch you.

Still think the Blackshape is totally stupid at A$280,000?

Alternatively you could buy a used Jab for $30,000 to $70,000 or in glider world a used Libelle or Standard Cirrus for about A$10,000 spend a few thousand updating and refurbishing it and have a lot of fun and if competition is your thing there is a Club handicapped class with even World Championships

Not for the RV-12, which is RAAus weight. My understanding is that, despite them being 'limited' (USA) to 120KIAS at sea-level via the propeller that VANS sells, they will go much faster. With a ground adjustable propeller, I'd be surprised if they couldn't move along at more like 130 KIAS - perhaps 140KTAS around 5000ft? An RV-12 is somewhat cheaper than a Blackshape. More info in an article in Kitplanes November 2017 . I'd be interested to hear of performance numbers from Aussie owners, particularly those who may have fitted a different GA propeller.

Yes.

HANDS UP all those with a disposable $280,000 in their bank account. Yup, thought so.

Hands up even those with $28,000 ... yup.

You have become so accustomed to these idiotic rip off prices, it's what you expect, and so it just rolls off the end of your tongue like it's nothing to do with reality.

Is the starboard wing tip in the shadow of the building?or is it just an effect of a long lens?

I think it is just a long lens, at first glimpse it looked like some really low flying but after working out wingspan compared to chairs ect it is a bit more reasonable.

It's been photoshopped. The original background was a grassy paddock.

For the lexiconographers: Notice how this product name (Photoshop) has joined other software products like Google have dropped the first letter capital and becomes verbs which refer to the use of the same or similar software to carry out the functions available in the original proprietary product.

Can anyone provide a ball park figure on the "factory cost" and how much mark up is on it??? What is the typical amount a aussie agent / dealer selling the toy here also make.

Forget all the options that can be loaded on.
