  1. Do get a gasket - they're only $12 or so and it's very likely you'll rip it when removing the water pump (which you have to do unfortunately!)
  2. Possibly the other thing is that not all airports have a full grass strip - anywhere that's not runway/taxiway may have culverts, lights, drains and a bunch of other stuff that you don't want to hit.
  3. Gotta have tight nuts, or your Dunlops won't dangle.
  4. I've seen that before, but it's bloody impressive - especially as it was made in 1926 apparently. Comment on the British Pathe site says the woman is a pilot, Gladys Ingle, also a member of "13 Black Cats" which apparently was a Hollywood daredevil group. Lot of setting up and camera work there - there's plenty of close-up camera work of her on the wing, even one shot which looks like it was taken from near the tail of the Jenny, and this was well before Go-Pro.
  5. Very professionally packed. No protractor or covers included - I will be setting up a laser pointer to calculate pitch, and have asked my wife to sew up some covers.
  6. Beautifully detailed aircraft by the looks of it. That was scary to watch though - it's a guided missile!
  7. Hi Vladimir, Glad you are ok and still able to work. I am sorry I didn't end up ordering one of your propellers, it was my first choice but due to the uncertainty caused by the invasion I chose not to take the risk. The Bolly looks excellent, but I haven't put it on the plane yet - waiting until everything is connected and ready to start engine before I do. I hope you remain safe, as well as your family and friends - and that the war is over soon.
  8. Hmmmm... no... like that too! That's ok. It'd be a boring old world if we found the same aircraft attractive.
  9. I like it. If Santa were to bring me one I wouldn't say no.
  10. I don't know what function it serves having your prop centerline pretty much level with the bottom of an almost flat fuselage, requiring hugely long u/c just to keep your prop off the ground.
  11. Lower row gets to stretch their legs. Makes up for the fart risk.
  12. If you could do it with a smooth wing surface and without heavy complex mechanisms, it'd be well worth it. Birds do it and they fly pretty well.
  13. That's pretty cool. Didn't know any "modern" planes used wing warping. Like the motorbike fuel tank!
  14. I used to enjoy that too. The Adelaide one of course.
  15. I'm interested in these as I don't have fuel gauges and no way to have a sight gauge. I do have the Sav header tank which should give me a flashing LED when there's no more wing tank fuel coming in to it, but that's it (apart from, obviously, dip stick & fuel flow calculator). Should order them from Ali Express, they might make it here next year.
  16. That's ALL you think of when you see Gyro Girl?? 😁
  17. OME, from my days as a model builder there was an iron-on heat shrink covering whose name escapes me, but it had a matt paintable finish unlike the normal plastic look. A lot easier to use and from an arms length you won't see the difference.
  18. I'm not sure how strong the rotor head of a gyro is but he's putting it under a lot of strain.
  19. Hi Picrway! She looks really good. Kit or plans building? Don't know if you need/want a mould for the cowling, but if you do, I dropped one back to Andrew at Midlands Flying School a couple of weeks ago. I don't reckon he'd have given it back to the owner yet. If you want his details just PM me. Yours may be a little different because of the bed mount, is the muffler going under that or somewhere else? Have you sourced the cooling system bits yet? I haven't yet ordered the 912 radiator or hoses, reading with interest what other people are using as hoses. Just realised I asked a lot of questions. Excited to see another 701 in Tassie I guess!
  20. Russian Air Force, 2024
  21. Not only could I not handle all that, I couldn't handle the running costs, the maintenance costs, the storage costs... jeez even the fuel for a flight would require remortgaging, these days.
  22. When I looked at the Gumtree ad this one popped up too... some assembly required, but less than half the price! 😁 https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/huntingdale/miscellaneous-goods/partenavia-p68-victor-aircraft-io-360-a1b6-200hp/1295052067
  23. Bloody dangerous to fly. If you make it through the flight without the very volatile fuels exploding or eating their way through the fuel lines, you then have to belly land it at 290km/h!!
  24. Doesn't OME have a 3D printer?
  25. I like the way you think. Solar panel on the roof charging your plane. In the morning wheel it out, check controls are free and correct, and off you go. An hour some days would be fantastic - if you don't want to go cross country then it'd be ample.
