That was worth watching!

Can't really comment because I'm not aware of the underlying issues. But, having said that it is a shame it's happened. I do know some councils behave the way they do simply out of spite.

If you join on the dead side at 1500 you may conflict with traffic departing overhead. I was taught to join on the dead side at circuit height.

Reports of a plane crash at William Creek.

From what I understand, they had to be freed from the aircraft. Hate those canopies that can trap you if your plane flips. -
Can't turn, Can't climb, Can't run: F35 problems

I have not read the many responses to this post but do need to say this. Nobody wants to dogfight anymore. They all want to fire off their missiles and get the hell out of danger. Be it ASRAAM, AMRAAM or AIM9 - launch it and bugger off. -

Aircraft down at Leigh Creek

When I suggest Oz-Runways could have a warning about busting last light I am NOT suggesting flight planning etc. should be ignored. I'm old school. I use maps and a compass, steam gauges, ground-speed-distance calculations with a whizz-wheel when I do a nav. I bet half the pilots flying RAAus wouldn't be doing so. Can I ask this; Do you who use Oz-Runways have a track on a map in case your iPad dies? -

A lot of pilots use Oz-Runways with their iPads. Maybe a big red warning should flash up if it detects that a pilot is going to bust last light. -

So, does this write all its data to a file? That would be VERY useful in a post crash investigation. -

That sounds like you're blaming the system. If a fool flies at night without a rating and/or in a unrated aircraft, then that's their stupidity. -

If they departed William Creek at 4pm for Leigh Creek, 150nm away, I would imagine it getting dark by the time they arrived. -

I believe Parafield training operators were looking at using Leigh Creek some time ago. -

Hi Bruce. I own my house, lock, stock and two smoking barrels but I cannot do any electrical work on it. The rules are there to protect others rather than the owners. It would scare the cr*p out of me if pilot/owners could do all the work they wanted because there are so many who 'think' they know what they are doing. One only has to read some of the posts on this forum to see what I mean. I dislike 'nanny' state situations but we see all the time that a few stupid people ruin things for the majority. Try working where I work, 1 day course to use the pencil sharpener and another to use the 'sharp' pencil...

Yes. In fact I had two friends who were confined to wheelchairs. Doesn't change my views on a crap insurance system. -
RAAus Member Public Liability Insurance
Jabiru7252 replied to Head in the clouds's topic in Governing Bodies
Many years ago I knew a lazy slob that got paid out big time after an accident. The payout was for future medical expenses for the injuries, pain and suffering, lost wages bla bla bla. This loser blew the money on booze and drugs and other rubbish. Now has nothing and blames everybody but himself. Huge insurance payouts are BS in my opinion and the system needs to change. -
Reporting news has become so pathetic these days. A few weeks ago, channel 9 reported how a bunch of baseball players wouldn't allow a 'tornado' to interrupt their game. A TORNADO!!!! It was a bloody dust devil, and a average one at that. I could scream when I see this kind of ignorance being exhibited on television.
