  1. They may have this aircraft
  2. You are not thinking this correctly. The only thing that matters is percentage of power. Two identical aircraft one with fixed pitch the other with a constant speed flying at the same climb or cruise speed at 75% power will be burning the same amount of fuel and loading the cooling system the same. Only difference will be the rpm on the constant speed may be lower, or it could be the same, the pilot has that control. The rpm of the prop will not effect cooling air flow, only air speed matters, if both aircraft are at 75% power airspeed and therefore the cooling will be the same.
  3. With my farming background I see a field of soybeans. Soybeans have to be harvested with the cutter bar on the ground, they even have flex Draper headers now for a close cut. Soybeans are planted leaving the field completely flat and are often rolled after seeding for more flatness. I see an incipient stall spin. Training may help but history shows it is not always effective.
  4. No Lycomings engines are clones. There are clones of the lycoming, Titan made by Continental engines is one of them. When your only competitor in class clones your engine you know it is good.
  5. If I recall correctly there was some discussion about the original location of the heat exchanges and why that might be problematic.
  6. Trevor is still the wallet salesman king. Can't believe the vid is still up. Just keeping it aviation.
  7. As an RV6a owner I was un aware of this service bulletin. Most likely because it is not listed in the RV6a section of Van's aircraft excellent website. Van's do not recommended this retrofit for RV6a aircraft for various reasons.
  8. I did not fly today however the Freedom to fly RV aircraft formation team have come to Cowra for a visit. 10 RV aircraft lead by a Yak flying beautiful formation with smoke, visual and aural perfection. We're super excited for our next training camp coming up soon. Keep... FB.WATCH We're super excited for our next training camp coming up soon. Keep your eyes peeled for more news! We would also like to welcome Punkin Head Air Sports...
  9. The guy in the vid is Trevor Jacobs cousin.
  10. Marty, I have a genuine rotax square bottle, not used from my last 582 same as 912. Will post at no cost to you, pm address if interested.
  11. All cirrus aircraft have the BRS parachute. The chute has not been deployed in this case, straps not pulled from the fuselage sides. I guess the pilot did not want to hear "shouldn't have pulled the chute, could have done a normal forced landing". Good result.
  12. We won't be able to call it part 103, that is already in use. https://www.casa.gov.au/search-centre/rules/part-103-casr-sport-and-recreation-aircraft The pic on the header of this thread is me living the dream, no license, registration or training. 1984 the year the AUF started.
  13. The 152 will have the same LAME maintenance in RAAus if group g ever gets airborne. The same aircraft logbook will continue on.
  14. It definitely does if th VH aircraft has a MTOW less than 1500kg, that was covered in the first and second email reply.
  15. I may be one of the pilots operating with an expired BFR. On two occasions recently RAAus have emailed me stating my BFR has expired and I have emailed back x2 the proof I would produce if ramp checked that my AFR is current for the VH and RAAus aircraft I fly. The RAAus record is still showing an expired BFR. I guess my crime is doing last BFR in aircraft with instructor not a member of RAAu$

  17. Will have to check it out. RFguy and I are going this year, another bucket list item done. The Thruster T500 that I have owned since '90 was demonstrated at oshkosh in '88.
  18. The method of repair depends on how you want your engine bay to look.
  19. Only solution is a new piece. My observation in GA maintenance world is that it is quite durable. Make sure the hard pipes have no sharp edges. Support hose onto any fixed structure with silicone. Don't over tighten the clamps.
  20. Aero clubs are another option. Cowra aero club rents the brumby 610 to members for $140 per hour wet. Forbes Parkes and Bathurst aero clubs have LSA and GA aircraft. Spoilt for choice in this area.
  21. Nice one. Let me know when you are having the next fly, would love to sample the other half of your fleet.
  22. Grade 5 and even grade 8 unc or unf nuts and bolts are easily machined with tungsten carbide tooling, I have done this many times. I guess they could be locked in the same way as most nuts and bolts on any engine.
  23. If you are talking about the 2023 TL ultralight sparker that costs 500k it has the same performance as my RV6a that cost less than a quarter of that. One can never have to much performance. Also no reason a Cirrus cannot be flown for recreational purposes, plenty of people do just that.
  24. Hi Damien, we have a group on Facebook, Thruster Flyers group Down Under. You are welcome to join and ask that question there. I did see one post from WA a while back, unfortunately a bent Thruster.
  25. Anyone with a lathe could part of the thickness you require from the full size nut. Just buy three nuts and find a lathe.
