    Umm while I know people who have lost their Class 2 medical, I also know people with cancer who only lost it for 12 months. And many forms of skin cancer are no issue at all.

    Umm a thread consistently coming back up to the top can mean a few people are having a chat. If it was a new thread, with an appropriate subject heading, others may also be interested.

    Umm such a friendly turn of phrase. I don't think a little thread drift is a problem. But when it keeps going perhaps starting a new thread may make it easier for people looking at the site to find what they are looking for ....... If you are involved in the discussion on the thread drift you know what it is about, but if you come in a little later, or after not looking for awhile it isn't quite the same. Generally I just move on rather than try and work out what is going on. If that makes me a pedant well so be it.

    The Basic Class 2 here uses a commercial driver standard, but you must meet it unconditionally except for glasses and hearing aids. There are many conditions that mean that pilots aren't eligible for a Basic Class 2 and that they may be able to get a Class 2. basic-class_2-medical-certificate-fact-sheet-pilots.pdf

    On the SAAA website now MPC Brisbane QLD – 1st & 2nd February 2020 Maintenance Procedure Course Tickets – Brisbane QLD Dates: Saturday 1st February & Sunday 2nd February 2020 Venue: To Be Confirmed Time: 8.30am to 4.00pm each day (approx) This course is available to those wishing to complete the course for the first time (initial) and those who wish to refresh their knowledge and be updated on, for example, any changes to legislation. The syllabus is, however, the same for both the initial and refresher attendees and so all are invited to attend the same course events. Tea/coffee will be provided. Lunch not included. Please bring note pad with pen & pencil. The course Trainer will make contact via email approximately one week prior to the course commencement date.

    Perhaps check this with the SAAA Office as there has definitely been more than one this year. Narromine, at least one in Melbourne and pretty sure there was one in Temora. May well have been others.

    I'm confused ... often ... JBR is an RV-14A. So a MTOW of about 930kgs. Not sure how an increase to 650kgs or 750kgs would have any impact on the safety of this model?

    I really don't know anything, but think originally OzKosh / AirVenture was setup by more than just the RAA, My understanding, which could easily be flawed, was that the others jumped ship as they had little oversight and no control of expenditure, decisions etc. Similar reasons to those given by RAAus now. Did the previous AirVenture at Cessnock go well? And do you mean by ' went well' that it made money or that people had a good time? And regardless of anything else I think its a really sad outcome.

    I didn't read the Airventure post as RAAus organising the raffle. Just that Airventure expected them to bail them out. But I didn't have a raffle ticket, didn't go to Airventure and know nothing about the trust.

    No need to google for me. I've been to Tibet and heard about these. The Tibetan Buddhists have a very different outlook on life and death. The monks also create butter sculptures using ashes of the deceased and yak butter. Google will tell you more but this is what was done with Kurt Cobain's remains.

    I fly, as do many of my friends. The Australian Woman Pilot Association is very active. But sometimes the posts/comments on this forum mean I stop coming back for awhile. At times it can get very blokey.

    Another option to a device such as RVAC uses is to have the ashes 'decanted' into a paper bag or two with the top folded over, not tied or taped. When you drop the paper bag out the storm window it opens on the way down. This works well and avoids ashes all over the cabin.

    Good result? Regardless of anything else that seems a tad harsh. The man is seriously injured and in ICU. Not something I would wish on anyone.
