Backups- electric and jet for single engined airplane
pmccarthy replied to RFguy's topic in Engines and Props
What is the logic in having it? If the engine stops you glide down. If you extend the glide, how does that help. You can always find a situation where you needed another 300 m to reach the paddock. Its like saying if only I has another day of annual leave I could get much more done. -
Well done!

As the sun comes up, the damage from the plane crash becomes more clear. This community in Groton, CT is waking up to quite the scene. Many neighbors tell me they heard a huge crash at about 10:30 last night, but thought it was a car accident. Police say there were two people on board the plane when it crashed and one person inside the home. The two people on the plane were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man inside the house was left uninjured. Piper Seneca.

flight planning over tiger country?
pmccarthy replied to RFguy's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Having flown Bass Strait several times behind Lycoming and Rotax, I accept that that the chance of survival in that water is very low. I wear a life jacket and carry a beacon, but in the end it is like riding a motorbike at speed or rock climbing. Do all you can to mitigate the risk, then decide if the experience is worth it. -
There is one for sale at the moment.

Low wing aircraft and bubble canopy's?
pmccarthy replied to SSCBD's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
No. Each vehicle absorbs its share of the energy, so it is like hitting a brick wall at 60. -
The role of a Director and of a Manager are very different, there is no career path for a volunteer director.

flight planning over tiger country?

Don't stress , the engine does not know it is over tiger country. -
I toured a lot in the early 1970s with 3 pax and full fuel and baggage in a Cherokee 180. Load was never a problem. Because we all weighed about 70 kg.

The ball bearing factory at Schweinfurt was a key target for allied bombers during WW2. -
A lot of people use voice recognition software for stories, that would do it.
