  1. Or for the facts, you could just read up what AIP says on the topic. Way too much crap is read back these days because someone starts doing it and everyone else joins in.
  2. Was it found in Snowtown? (asking for a friend...)
  3. We check ours tail down and horizontal often and do find a notable difference. (Same planes, Captain Speaking, you know where.....) Horizontal full oil = at top mark. Tail down full oil = half way between the marks. Nothing much in oil catch bottle after 25 hours. Maybe 100ml, if that.
  4. To clarify for Peter, You can fly your plane on your RAAus RPC at Camden when the tower is not active, and when the tower is activated, you must also hold PPL/Medical. As a PPL holder (only) - I can't operate your 24 registered plane. As a PPL holder, you can't even operate your plane. You operate it via your RAAus RPC. 24 reg planes can only be flown by RAAus members. Wait, what??????????????????? Everyone sufficiently confused yet?
  5. Today, I hit 500 hours and nearly 15 years on my Jabiru engine 2200 #1583. Thank you Jabiru Aircraft Australia.
  6. What was the instrument used to obtain those low pressure readings? A seven times dropped thing from K-Mart, or something known to be accurate?
  7. Don't confuse and link class D zones and closely settled areas - they are two completely different things. Examples of D with no closely settled areas surrounding: Avalon, Tamworth. Probably a zillion others. Well, a few.
  8. Lemme see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_Airforce_Service_Pilots Janine Shepherd (go read the book Never Tell Me Never)
  9. After hours, not only is it "not really Class D", it's "not class D" so fill yer boots and fly, nobody can stop you. Crazy that at 5:59pm with ATC you cannot freely fly (non instructional), but at 6:01pm with no ATC, you can. It's just plain stupid. Class D, and "not class D" do not require a transponder. (see AIP).
  10. And for flying schools, via CASA Exemption CASA EX86/19. And the medical requirement remains (it says).
  11. Thanks for reporting!
  12. Just in time Merc. PGK-1 Hirondelle.
  13. Third and final call...................
  14. Get some of this. Every workshop should have some.
  15. Going Once.......
  16. BZZZZZZ. (That’s a no)
  17. Time for another clue? Canadian design. (bonus clue - I have a set of the plans about one meter away)
  18. You're welcome Peter. I was out your way polluting your airspace. Was very busy at the airbase.
  19. Time for a clue? Plans built.
  20. Well, the gear legs are, as far as I know, by the same guy that makes them for Vans.
  21. Try this one sports fans...
  22. The Dustbowl International Airshow 2021 has been postponed to November 2021 I see.
  23. Some years ago I was asked by a fella to go look at an aircraft that was for sale. He just couldn't get there at that time. I knew the aircraft and the owner (who had passed away). First thing I went for was the logbook. There was not a single entry in it for the last 15 years and no mention of the three prop strikes I personally knew it had experienced. Two tip onto nose events, and one fence hit. The aircraft had been flying occasionally in those 15 years, and had been flown from location A to location B about a year before I saw it again. Conveyed that info to the interested buyer, he ended up buying it as a grubby and tired airframe with a worthless engine and no genuine maintenance records. He had a new engine built and professionally installed, and lots of other work done to get it up to usable level again. Moral of the story is: Logbooks only reveal what is put into them, which may not be everything that has happened to the aircraft.
  24. I had August flight to Sydney turned into QF flight credit on 7 April. No actual notification came that they cancelled the flight. Went to the manage my bookings page and there was an option to request refund. So I did. No sign of it yet, still showing as a flight credit. About January, I was throwing around the idea of trying to get to Airventure (the real one) again.
  25. It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee
