  1. Time for a clue? Plans built.
  2. Well, the gear legs are, as far as I know, by the same guy that makes them for Vans.
  3. Try this one sports fans...
  4. The Dustbowl International Airshow 2021 has been postponed to November 2021 I see.
  5. Some years ago I was asked by a fella to go look at an aircraft that was for sale. He just couldn't get there at that time. I knew the aircraft and the owner (who had passed away). First thing I went for was the logbook. There was not a single entry in it for the last 15 years and no mention of the three prop strikes I personally knew it had experienced. Two tip onto nose events, and one fence hit. The aircraft had been flying occasionally in those 15 years, and had been flown from location A to location B about a year before I saw it again. Conveyed that info to the interested buyer, he ended up buying it as a grubby and tired airframe with a worthless engine and no genuine maintenance records. He had a new engine built and professionally installed, and lots of other work done to get it up to usable level again. Moral of the story is: Logbooks only reveal what is put into them, which may not be everything that has happened to the aircraft.
  6. I had August flight to Sydney turned into QF flight credit on 7 April. No actual notification came that they cancelled the flight. Went to the manage my bookings page and there was an option to request refund. So I did. No sign of it yet, still showing as a flight credit. About January, I was throwing around the idea of trying to get to Airventure (the real one) again.
  7. It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee
  8. And...... Airventure 2020 (the real one) cancelled.
  9. What does the latest manual 9 of Nov 2019 say: 0.53-0.58mm or 0.021-0.023 " (and confirms Nev's 0.020 trick to be indeed Jabiru approved for winter.) Spark plugs must be within the set life and be gapped correctly. In winter spark plug gaps can be reduced as low as 0.020” to allow the plugs to fire more easily. Manual 8 of May 2019 said the same. Manual 7 of 2016 said: 0.55-0.6mm and It is recommended to set the gaps at the minimum limit during winter for easier starting. and Spark plugs must be within the set life and be gapped correctly. In winter spark plug gaps can be reduced as low as 0.020” to allow the plugs to fire more easily Gaps have changed, quietly. Jabiru shows any revisions in the manual at the end, but there was no mention of the gap change in 8 after 7. Oh, and the specified gaps only apply to the specified D9EA plug, not iridiums.
  10. CASA revised an estimate????? What's today's date? Hmmmm 25th.... (not 1st).
  11. Phil - CASA aren't the only ones who can issue you a Special Flight Permit. https://www.casa.gov.au/licences-and-certification/standard-page/airworthiness-delegate-search search for a CASR 21.200 Authorised Person in W.A. Good hunting! (You might even find an alternative LAME at Janda in the process...)
  12. Garden tools..... pffttt....................I do my lawn with this
  13. It sure doesn't look robust enough to be any part of an aircraft.
  14. Agree - "A solution looking for a problem." Me: 15 years and 500 hours of 2200 ownership and operation with zero problems, and two other identically set up 2200 aircraft in the hangar, also with zero problems.
  15. Private Explorer. Yes, I think it did fly around the world many years ago.
  16. Interesting. I got 8 years out of my first battery, always using the solar trickle charger, my mate got just 4 years without one before his battery just gave up. Mine was still going strong at 8 years. Now 7 years out of the current battery, still going strong. Mate uses a trickle now and has probably over 8 years on his battery now, still going great. We use our old batteries to power a cordless drill (yes, with a cord now) and a light.
  17. The Full River direct replacement may not be quite so direct. I bought one for my PC625 replacement, it was in a tin case which I had to remove to fit the battery tray in my aircraft, (the actual battery is the same size, but there's no mention of it being in a case!) then I realised that the positive and negative terminal where reversed, so I could not use it due to insufficient battery cable reach - in my aircraft installation - setup for, and only for, the battery sitting a certain way with the terminals out in the breeze. I did not have more cable than it needed. Nope, not even another 150mm. Foiled again. I just went and bought a PC625. I put the Full River into a battery box with a solar panel to power an electric fence. Works GREAT. I used a $30 solar car charge panel on it (in the hangar, ambient light) and got 8 years out of the first one before deciding to change it "just because" - it was still starting AOK after 8 years. I think the solar trickle charge just keeps the battery up, not naturally depleting over time.
  18. Could we see some pictures of the pizzas, might be able to identify them.
  19. You don't "only" hold an RPL, you hold an RPL, a CASA issued Pilot Licence. It entitles you to operate your aircraft - within the RPL rules and limits of course. Insurers would be (in part) looking at "are you properly qualified?" Yes or no. YES is the answer, you hold a CASA issued Pilot Licence for the aircraft.
  20. Correct. https://www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com/2020-airshow/news/warbirds-over-wanaka-international-airshow-cancelled/
  21. Which one? No. 3,764,237?
  22. Informative, and from someone who actually has one too. I've said it before, I'll say it again, whenever someone poo-poo's Jabiru to me, I just say: Oh, you own one? (no) Oh, you fly one? (no) Oh, you maintain one? (no)
  23. I'd think something French homebuilt, oui?
  24. I'm told the maintenance records are all electronic on a military system, which is not available to Joe Average. I think we'll see some of these fly in civilian hands in short time, unless they all go to Dirkadirkastan.
  25. CASA has fined pilot(?) Tim French $2730 for three offences, and fisherman Sam Foreman $1050.
