Do it quick and no one notices it and it has been known to rain Cats and Dogs. but when a cargo plane blew up over Japan, it rained Datsun Cogs.  Nev

What impression did you have of the aeroplane? I did my initial training on one.   The best way to get rid of the cat is roll inverted and it will fall away. Don't worry about the cat . They always land on their Feet and find their way home. Nev

Quite responsive and fun to fly. Climbing turn stalls can be very interesting as can be power on, flaps down stalls. I don't have much in the way of tail wheel time so its been a learning curve. Certainly makes one use the lower extremities a bit more.

Controls have good feel (Rods) Rudder could be bigger, Treat stalling with respect, It can Bite, Handbrake could be "different". Are you 3 pointing or wheeling it on? Solo it is different to 3 point than  with 2 onboard. Stop swing early and positively Rudder works a lot better when power is on. Practice bounced well controlled go arounds. IF you're not happy go around. Get used to having a RUDDER. and USING it.   Nev

Not the last flight, but maybe the next flight……

Has anyone flown William Creek to Birdsville when Lake Eyre is full ? What track did you use ? I note a direct track would involve up to 40nm over water - and I don’t want to carry a life jacket across the desert.
Looking for other people’s experiences.

In 2019 we flew up the western edge of the lake then followed the Diamentina river to Birdsville in the mighty Musketeer. Was amazing. Going out again in June. Last pic was 3500 agl, would have only just been able to glide to the edge of the river, about 15km wide.

I met a flyer  ( at the springs pool ), who flew from Brisbane to Birdsville then on to "Dellhousie Springs " , rangers airstrip , just to have a " skinny dip " with his girlfriend., at the time of " Birdsville races " .

Thanks Thruster - and that looked like an awesome flight !
I’m thinking about my pax small bladder and a partial circumnavigation of the lake if it’s full, makes for about a 3 hr flight to Birdsville from William Ck. I may have to head back to Marree for a pit stop and then follow the track northwards.

If you’re heading out there in June, I might see you there !

I went solo again this afternoon.

I have soloed twice before but due to long breaks in my training I had to start again plus I am training in a Texan now and tecnams before.

It was a great feeling to get to solo again. I only have 4 hours to go and I will finally get my RPC.

At Birdsville now. But we’ve been to Coober Pedy, Cadney Homestead, Curtin Dprings, Ayers Rock and Alice Springs since we left William Creek.

Thanks LtF - sounds like a great trip. Does it look pretty green at Birdsville ?  Got any pics ?  Hope to be there in about a month.

Lots of green. Still some standing water. Will post some pics in the next few days. Also Tekin from AridAir posted some advice re calls etc around Lake Eyre on Facebook. Worth looking at before you come.
