It's basically what the big heavy metal guys in the Airlines do I believe (but again they flare).

TV programs that may interest other flyers
winsor68 replied to planedriver's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Back to topic briefly (I couldn't watch Motorkite Dreaming either...dreadfully shocking)... On Channel 7 Plus Catchup... The Australian Parachuting Nationals. Very well filmed...goes into an explanation of the categories...shows the competitors and teams and a bit about them in the lead up...and then the excellent aerial photography showing the competitions...some of it in split screen showing both competitors. Very well done and just the sort of sport I want to see more of on TV. -
I think you still have to flare???
-
Seriously. How anyone thinks this is a good idea in GA or RA is beyond me.

Ra-Aus is a body established to administer the sport of recreational aviation in Australia. It is not a regional club.

Ultralight crash North of Rockhampton
winsor68 replied to ave8rr's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Not sure what sort of trike this is... Interesting points I see.... 1. Very little obvious warning of the stall. 2. Front seat pilot doesn't recognise the stalled wing. 2. Tiny amount of wing movement required to recover by back seat pilot. -
Pietenpol Air Camper Corvair build

That is an awesome build log...blog. -
I often see people at work in my hospital job and immediately Ross comes to mind. The sort of oldish blokes that are the salt of the earth types. Always neatly but casually dressed. That look about them that tells you "this bloke has seen a fair bit and just knows stuff and if I was to sit down with him for a chat he would have a lot to pass on that I would find valuable in my life"... if you know what I mean. Yeah. I just think of him often...and wonder what life would have bought him had he not flown away that day.

Ultralight crash North of Rockhampton

I hear what you are saying...but I still can't recall the last time a forumite from this site was killed in a car accident. Whereas for aircraft accidents...? What is the tally now? -
Release of ATSB accident report on Pitts Model 12
winsor68 replied to dutchroll's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Same model Pitts aircraft...Not Dutchroll's aircraft. -
At least we are recently seeing that the racists and bigots really are a tiny minority of Australians. Lets hope that we can push them to shut up or ship out for the future of our nation now that they have been exposed for who and what they are.

Your third video from the top shows an engine failure and crash... The comments indicate a solution???
-
RAA in years past used to make these sort of accusations to anyone who didn't ignore the obvious failures RAA was showing long before the audits confirmed it.

I'm no longer a member...but even so I used to regularly buy the magazine when I could find it in newsagents. Since it has gone online I have not taken much interest in it...and it's free now. I think it's a shame myself...it should have been supported to stay in print IMO.

Partial engine failure - lesson learned
winsor68 replied to dutchroll's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
What do you imagine would have happened if the "partial" turned into a "full" during the circuit? Were you out of runway? -

Incredible crash video - pilot survived almost unhurt
winsor68 replied to a topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Wow!! Was it upside down when it came to a stop? -
It looks just like an F16.
-
Actually...it's probably quite a few years ago now...
-
There was a story in the AUF magazine a few years ago of a Corby loosing part of it's canopy in flight.
-
That is part of what makes him so funny IMO...

Oh bugger. How tragic.
