  1. I guess that applies to above 10 000 also? I always thought contact had to be made with atc to go over 10 000 into flight levels. Perhaps it's just being polite to give them a radio call and let them know what your doing, but not compulsory? Anyone here flying above 10 000 privately, Vfr?
  2. Yes, below 10 000... May need to be trandsponder equiped....
  3. Tell her at least she knows where you are and knows what you are doing......
  4. I do have a google account but won't be logging into anything..... There must be a more benign way of doing it? Survey monkey or something. ...
  5. I'm still waiting for an order from the US from late March which should be here this week. An order from mid March from the UK took two months, so it's a bit of a worldwide thing....
  6. If I was VH exp, I'd drop the RAA and go SAAA....
  7. Whether it's regulated or unregulated or somewhere in between, there always seems to be some company rorting it somehow. ... 'Share the burden': Pilbara pleads with airlines for fairer fares http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-04/calls-to-cut-regional-airfares-to-pilbara/12318242
  8. Not a bad website. Easy to choose aircraft and blades. Would be really good if they made blades to fit a Warpdrive hub and spinner? E-PROPS : les meilleures helices pour ULM, hi-tech ultra-legeres
  9. I contacted a company some years ago about a similar A/F gauge. They said it wouldn't work in an aircraft because it was calibrated to sea level, so lower oxy levels at altitude give incorrect readings. I couldn't work it out.... perhaps they baulked at the word "aircraft"...
  10. Turfglides? Having owned a set, they are nice and light and excellent on sand and soft surfaces. They give a very nice soft landing. When they required replacement I went with a more conventional aircraft tyre. The light weight comes from rather thin rubber. I've heard reports of punctures on rough ground......
  11. I like your style and I'm with you..... but so many seem to hoard it for?.....Who knows what.....
  12. I'm not sure why this bloke made the vid at such low altitude..... make the tuning differences minor I think. You can download the manual from the link in my post above.
  13. I think we've been on the verge for a number of years but the govt just dropped money into the economy to stop the figures going over the edge whenever it looked bad.... It's probably a "buyers market" at the moment. For aircraft and just about everything else...... $0.70 usd to the dollar is better than the 0.57 it was in March, but for those that purchase overseas the other side of 0.80 would be nice.
  14. I've got my 912 uls to a bit over 11500 briefly. -6 OAT! As per the other posters, it ran perfectly but those egt's were so awfully cold. Maybe around the mid 600's. I was probably wasting 4 or more litres per hour......at least. Whereas a nice WOT run at sea level, on a "high oxygen" day can get me easily over 800 degrees C egt....so sweet! As I normally fly at "altitude", I have considered buying a HACMAN but I've not pulled the trigger yet. http://gsatech.store/hacman-mixture-control-kit/
  15. I probably see more value personally, in putting the money that would go into oil sampling, into extra oil changes....
  16. They are probably "mountain bike" shocks. There's various sizes on ebay. 190 x 50mm DNM DV22AR Coil Spring Rear Shock For Mountain Bike Bicycle for sale online | eBay Any info on make/model written on them?
  17. Speaking of retail. It makes me laugh when I go to a shop and they tell me they have to order it in. I don't mind paying extra for the convenience of them stocking it, but they want me to pay the retail price AND return to their shop to pick it up. If I have to wait, I can buy it online myself at half their price and have it delivered.
  18. Maps and traffic is very minimal usage. I only put weather radar on if required and only intermittently. I find it is slow to refresh and annoying to have on all the time. You may find youself looking at other non aviation things on it and then ofcourse data will go up. Emails etc.... You can always top up the data on the run or start with a pre paid sim to see how much GB you require.
  19. I thought it was about $6000 more? At $15000 it would be more expensive than a 914? edit: CPS shows $3000 usd difference from "uls" to "is". https://www.cps-parts.com/menus/rtx/engines.html
  20. To be running lean you would have to be using less fuel than a 912is? This video really proves how bad carbs are at metering fuel.
  21. And when they go broke, they blame everything BUT poor customer service and satisfaction....
  22. Getting back on topic....sort of..... The report comes from "Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick" Elizabeth is a feminist lawyer..... take that as you please..... On a personal note, I'm all for equality. PURE equality. Not equality by inequality based on percentages, favourtism and bias. I have happily worked for and with women who have put their male colleagues to shame..... Many of them prefer the male dominated industries as the "bitchiness" ( their words) doesn't exist.
  23. I believe it did have the return but the engine may not have been ground run long enough to clear vapour.....before take off. And/or perhaps the the return system (1mm orifice?) was unable to handle WOT/full fuel flow.
  24. My experience in 912 uls is compensation exists up to around 5000 ft. The exact altitude is variable because atmospheric conditions are variable. It is easy to see when it is not compensating as egt's lower as the mixture becomes richer. It is also noticable how poor carbies meter fuel when the fuel injected engine uses noticeably less fuel.
