  1. Application of Part 91—Aircraft to which Part 101, 103 or 131 applies (91.030) Part 91 does not apply to aircraft operated under: › Part 101 - Unmanned aircraft and rockets › Part 103 - Sport and recreational operations and › Part 131 - Manned free balloons. This provision to be reviewed when Parts 101, 103 and 131 are made.
  2. Maybe RAA need to define for us the members, a lower level (IN SIZE ) and requirement of a non commercial RAA Airfield. Not a ALA. As we only fly 600kg (NO GA) and don't need all other requirements of one size fits all. May help with defining under council rules as strip not an airfield. It also may relieve some insurance problems, And future people moving and building into the area with council. Just a wish!!!
  3. The question is how many lives were saved by Angel Flight over the years for these people needing a flight or had medical problems solved.
  4. Being proactive with you feet. Trained a lot of people (with no brakes) and they suddenly learned what rudder pedals do. Specifically if they came from GA.
  5. Have been driving sea and float planes for years - so many bad decisions in the clip - who in hell gave out the endorsement.
  6. What ratings do you have and total flight time at this point?
  7. Because we cant (RAA) get night rating or night circuits endorsements. It will always happen.
  8. Jack just ask twr to repeat, slowly - I told one major atc guy that was way to fast (you get some like that) I had Alzheimer's - say all again! - it took him 20 seconds to stop laughing and repeat. They don't have a problem when asked.
  9. Yes Frank I believe you (really I do ) - Its about time Frank you put some lights in on your strip instead of your wife waving a torch. Smile!
  10. RE my post below - THATS THE POINT. Need to get some attention from the board . Not a word about from RAA that I have read about with this deal with AVDATA. Serious Question are RAA getting a kickback as well?? I must be under a rock, not getting any monthly news from our leaders in email either like I used to either unless the system is broken. Who on the board owns a RAA aircraft - and what is its rego number - shall we all have a week of flying with the same rego number!!!! A cunning plan Like your comment Jack - where is the RAA office located
  11. Who on the board owns a RAA aircraft - and what is its rego number - shall we all have a week of flying with the same rego number!!!! A cunning plan?
  12. Never had that ipad shutdown problem - yet.
  13. Just to set the record straight from any myth. Methusaia - I can report to any judge, that even the old thruster Gemini can do four consecutive loops - and that CASA has locked away, a video of it, so it wont be seen in daylight. They thought with all the rules and regs back then - wing loading with huge drag etc that the aeronautical engineers said no way. Guess CASA was wrong again. Who would have thought.
  14. "Thruster takes some beating in the visibility stakes. Especially since you can stand them on their nose with idle power and they won't bust Vne." However Methusala You can if you try harder in the Thurster the pod will get a large dimple in it!!!! AND RE visibility with the prop in front - Only while the engine works - they sound a bit rattly with the engine off. Then you get the full eye opening effect of the earth in front of your nose.
  15. Just as a rough guide for RAA aircraft you can buy new here in aus / nz can you put a ball park number on the cost of RAA kit or built aircraft available. The RAA aircraft agents here in AUS should have no problems (I guess) to supply basic cost to fly away and or hours to build as a kit? Like jab do on the website for example. But not all do.
  16. I was speaking to a guy learning to fly (no names or place where he trains) and he said it costs him around 15 to 20 mins out of his one hour lesson just to get into the air and back to shutdown. So really he is getting a "flying value" of 40 mins ish on average of flying, whilst paying dual rates for an hour. Also the same problem for people that would fly solo as well. So What's your average taxi time on the ground for a flight and back to the hangar? Also what's the worst airport that you guys know of that takes 15 mins or more on average to get to fly
  17. I will use this quote from our leader when it ends up in court your honour. Also Mustering, as far as I am concerned is a ""commercial operation", and should not be put in same vein for our Recreational Flying stats. (sorry if it sounds hard). We will never stop accidents ever. No person or machine is perfect and we will always make mistakes, just make sure they are small ones that don't lead to big ones. As for the machines we fly its the risk we take to fly. Look at the best that has been made Boeing 737 max 8 - who could have seen that coming.
  18. Just to be a smart arse, bigger bladder would be the best on long flights. However I did fill in the survey properly for you. Needs of age groups and flight do become a factor for LSA that can fly 5 hours non stop these days.
  19. No Turbo don't twist my post it is a fair and straight question - I am looking at the gen4 engine, how many are flying now, and hours on them, and if any problems as per my post above. Shpuld not Raa have all these numbers as well?
  20. So my real questions are with the GEN 4, and where do you get real information from. 1. How many gen 4 engines have been put into aircraft to this date. Number IS ? 2. How many high hour engines are operating without failure say at 500 , 1000, 1500? 3. If any failures what are they and WHEN?? Anything else is pure smoke and mirrors or guess work here.

Isn't that the same as you only got a bit pregnant or I only got slightly killed. And if you ever get into a real spin one day, I hope you're not carrying a pax. It's only having better safety skills on your part if you are flying sport aircraft or GA to do a course in spin recovery with GA instructor. Just like engine failures that you practice flying, you might be lucky and never get a real one, but you'll never know until it does happen. Will you bet your life on that?
  22. And why do we have a government at all? Who is the head of transport in VIC and why are these people still in a job.
  23. Look like a mini piper aerostar at the front.
