  1. thank god they remembered to put a wing on it
  2. on 2 separate occasions I have been lucky to sit in the right hand seat while aerial topdressing (nz). On the second occasion the relaxed pilot (ag pilots usually are) allowed me top fly it back to the airfield - a distance of say 20 miles - and to finals the DC3 topdressers were single pilot operation and carried 5 tons of phosphate from provincial airfields Provincial airfields saved the cost of transporting the fertilizer to an isolated farm strip - I don't know if that was sound economics
  3. let him who is without sin cast the first stone
  4. If you are lucky to pocket my $ 750 that I paid by PAYG trust to Scomo ........ you can use some of that to balance any unforseen financial disturbances !
  5. go get 'em jackc - see if you can get the highway rig up to 120 km/h - might as well do some speeding as well pack the spare tyre full of illicit substances and make a packet when you get there as well that s a 'well, well' (.................. said in a pensive tone)
  6. ........ if we are grounded till say august 2020 ? (a guess) then RAA will have to allow some mechanism where owners can all go and 'run up' these planes once and a while its a bit like all the other closed facilities - they need to be maintained for their eventual reuse ?
  7. Come on T88 ......... how many thousands of acres do you own ?
  8. is it that a single truck can't be defined as 'trucks' ....................... is that the answer - is it ?
  9. .................... I'm listening Ian - I hope you pull a big rabbit out of the hat with everyone gone to facebook - kinda makes this site unique - is that a pro for survival ?
  10. Yes Mactuk (and others) ............... the majority of us are rec pilots - armchair commercial pilots if you like - we like flying and we particularly like viewpoints from those that have used their commercial pilots license in anger ............... all good subject matter to us / me Please keep sharing I find it ironic that ag pilots are mentored and trained and presumably fly in their level of experience (with plenty of willing replacements waiting), but, in some instances the inference is a charter pilot flies in to the blue yonder (also with plenty of willing replacements waiting) - seems that maybe each type of flying (ag & charter) does it differently ?
  11. it was mauled
  12. ooohhhhhhhhhhh the irony !
  13. somatogravic illusion. An optical illusion that can result in spatial disorientation. A rapid acceleration during takeoff can create an illusion of being in a nose-up attitude. ... See also oculogravic illusion. When head is level or when aircraft is flying at constant speed, sensing hairs are erect.
  14. let him who is without sin cast the first stone
  15. venerable /ˈvɛn(ə)rəb(ə)l/ Learn to pronounce adjective accorded a great deal of respect, especially because of age, wisdom, or character. "a venerable statesman" Similar: (in the Anglican Church) a title given to an archdeacon. (in the Roman Catholic Church) a title given to a deceased person who has attained a certain degree of sanctity but has not been fully beatified or canonized.
  16. old rivals meet again - jab vs rotax always makes and interesting thread there will be no winners but its good to get the laundry out I'm sure all of us wish all owners good value, reliability and economy ................ and a clean fight
  17. SONG: found this ditty ................................ a clever song in my book
  18. We continually forget this / your point of view SplitS ! I have not read all the way back but is there some reference that proves your point of view ? (why are all ? the fire professionals supporting water bomber aircraft ?)
  19. is it the difference of the experienced and non-experienced - that we speak of ................... those pilots that collect wires the non experienced might be at shorter odds to collect a wire, but I think its because of the complacency of a pilot - irrespective of experience from the wire strikes I have read ............. wire strike pilots never even thought of 'wire' till it happened wonder what the human factor's scenario / question that covers this ? (no thought - to a danger that is camouflaged - disregarding any issue about flying below 500 ft .............. or between towers / ridge lines etc)
  20. .. dust is mud (with all the water squeezed out) (aeroplanes can get dusty and muddy)
  21. keep us posted turbo any other 100 hectare allotments close to Melbourne going for $ 100,000 ............... can you let us know please (that is if JCW and Co don't now about it) QUOTE 'landowners enjoy from simply waiting for a council decision and the stroke of a minister’s pen. He has called for the introduction of a costly “licence”' how would that licence work - at purchase how could a purchaser contribute to 'infrastructure' if it could was 20, 30, 40 years before it could be subdivided to create valuable land ?
  22. Psychic thoughts .......................... : If it were n't for electricity we'd all be watching television in the dark
  23. he would n't have made the newspaper if the dreams were nightmares about horses losing
  24. tell us more Yenn - or someone can you do a ruff calculation for us ?
  25. the old boy was a topdressing pilot and he died first. the old girl kept his ashes and when she died we organised to have the 2 containers placed in a topdressing plane and have them spread on some local hills prior, after some phone organisation we left the containers at the local topdressing pilots house (who knew the olds) (with numerous bottles of wine and beer and perhaps cash) ................. I never verified what actually did happen but believe it to be true - that's all that matters
