The grubby media make sure the word pilot is mentioned, it gets more attention, sells more newspapers, that’s their game, fear and hysteria are No1 when it comes to journo’s, just look at the last near two years of Covid BS we’ve had to put up with?

In this case the sources were Victoria Police and Jetstar; you can check the press conferences where the press got their information if you want.

One News organisation, that I know of, use data from Facebook etc plus comments from this type of website to work out what is attractive to readers.  Even to the extent of what media device followers what eg aggressive, sensational etc.  I stay away from the mainstream media.  All about getting your money.

We usually have a fair trial before  we string them up..  Nev

I’m not stringing anyone up, someone’s grounded, lucky guess by the police where to dig up out of all that vast mountainous area to search.

Being a pilot must be "significant" enough to mention it.  A Judge, Lawyer, Pollie or Cricket notable would get their profession mentioned also..  Maybe even a street beggar.  I don't think it's any big deal, actually, but it is newsworthy and that's what sells papers, which the ABC don't do.  They do have  a bit called "What the Papers SAY" which would have to be a bit SUSS. THEY are probably forced to DO that one. Nev

The biased grubby ABC keep saying JetStar pilot on every report to create attention, sensationalism, their fav grubby trick! utter grubs they are!

Flighty do you consider the commercial media, including Murdoch’s empire, to be much more reliable and factual?

I hate the grubby corrupt ABC with a passion!  Just like Aussie Post, inept assholes!

I ordered a headset from Melbourne and it arrived at my little rural nsw town store/post office 4 days later. I would call that outstanding. I also watch the ABC. Life is good.

Its all relative. That is relative to your life experience & expectations.

The ABC is, in my opinion, fare less partisan than the commercial media. I am not saying the organisation is not without its faults but then what system is without stain? Its just less likely to stray into populism than the rest, tends towards facts rather than stories and is willing to admit its mistakes.

One of the ABC's biggest problems is the financial control the Gov of the day has over their funding (implied and often acted on threat) - no matter the political colour, they are never happy with the ABC for very long - dont like their darker activities & failings being exposed, nor being made fun of (satire)

Australia Post - .Maaaate! I remember when it could take a month (or longer) for a letter to arrive - now it usually takes 2-5 days. We can all tell stories about parcels that never arrived, letters that took decades (??) but the reality is an excellent service, with a very high percentage of delivery within a reasonable time. Just you wait some illegitimate polly will sell it of for a quick buck, the private sector will take over with far less reliability and much greater cost.

There's nothing "lucky" about what the police are doing. They have a vast array of information sources available to them (multiple cameras, satellite photos, phone tracking, vehicle tracking, eavesdropping utilising high-tech equipment, surveillance - and good old "public information") - and they're throwing a lot of police resources into the discovery of evidence.

They're doing very good work, and when it's all finished, I would not be surprised to see commendations come out of their policing work. By far the best piece of policing was examining the burnt tent, and concluding that the fire was no accident.

Many a major crime investigation has been stuffed up with poor initial policing, and even poorer follow-up, when individual concerns have been raised.

how could anyone watch TV (if you had to) ...................... and it was not the ABC

we in Oz are lucky to have an organisation like ABC - essentially tax payer funded and not influenced by commercialism. The ABC try their best to be the social conscience of our society - we are lucky to have such a unique asset - I doubt any country can boast that ?

the reference to 'jet star' pilot - does this infer a qantas pilot would not do this ? (sarcasm)

Yes the international parcels system has definitely recovered from Covid. I got a GPS smartwatch direct from China ($63.00 delivered compared to Amazon price of $198.00) in 9 days.

Our postie is impressive and always goes the extra few metres for his customers. He rarely leaves parcels in our mailbox, but drives right up to our door and leaves them on our verandah. Since Covid, online shopping has overwhelmed their system; he is often an hour late and his van is overloaded with parcels.

He obviously enjoys being our lifeline and is even growing white whiskers ready for Xmas!
